Product Overview
StitchBond Direct supplies high-performance stitchbond nonwoven fabric engineered specifically for sofa manufacturing, mattress production, and upholstery applications. Our stitch-bonded fabric is made from 80%–95% recycled polyester (RPET) combined with high-quality polyester filaments, delivering the tensile strength, breathability, and dimensional stability required for demanding furniture and bedding applications.
Available in 40 GSM to 300 GSM basis weights with stitch spacing from 7F to 22F, this fabric can be customized to match your exact line requirements — whether you need a lightweight lining for mattress quilting or a heavier substrate for sofa upholstery backing.
All production runs are OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified and comply with EU REACH and RoHS standards, making them suitable for consumer-facing furniture products in European and North American markets.

Why Stitchbond Nonwoven for Sofa and Mattress Production?
Stitch-bonded nonwoven fabric bridges the gap between woven textiles and conventional nonwovens. The stitch-bonding process mechanically interloops fibers, creating a fabric with higher tensile strength than spunbond or thermal-bonded nonwovens at comparable weights, without sacrificing flexibility or breathability.
For sofa and mattress manufacturers, this translates into three operational advantages:
1. Dimensional Stability During Cutting and Sewing
Stitchbond fabric resists edge fraying and deformation under tension. It holds its shape through high-speed cutting tables and automated sewing lines, reducing waste and rework compared to loosely bonded nonwovens.
2. Breathability Without Compromising Barrier Performance
The open stitch structure allows air circulation — critical for mattress comfort layers and sofa cushion breathability — while still providing an effective dust and fiber barrier when used as a lining or backing fabric.
3. Recycled Content with Consistent Quality
Our RPET stitchbond uses post-consumer PET bottle flakes as the primary fiber source. Because we control the fiber-to-fabric process in-house, recycled content does not mean inconsistent quality. The result is a fabric that supports your sustainability claims and meets production tolerances.
Applications in Sofa Manufacturing
| Sofa Component | Recommended GSM | Stitch Spacing | Function |
|---|---|---|---|
| Upholstery backing / lining | 80–120 GSM | 14F–18F | Prevents foam migration, adds body to loose covers |
| Seat cushion underlay | 120–200 GSM | 12F–14F | Distributes load, reduces foam fatigue |
| Frame wrap / dust cover | 60–90 GSM | 18F–22F | Lightweight barrier against dust and insects |
| Reinforcement for stress points | 200–300 GSM | 7F–12F | High-tensile support at armrests and seat edges |
Applications in Mattress Production
| Mattress Layer | Recommended GSM | Stitch Spacing | Function |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quilt backing / scrim | 50–80 GSM | 18F–22F | Prevents fiber migration through quilt cover |
| Foam encapsulation wrap | 100–150 GSM | 14F–18F | Contains foam block, improves shape retention |
| Fire barrier substrate | 150–250 GSM | 10F–14F | Carrier for FR treatments (CFR1633 compatible) |
| Border / side panel lining | 80–120 GSM | 14F–18F | Adds body to border fabric, hides spring edges |
| Foundation / box spring cover | 60–100 GSM | 18F–22F | Breathable dust barrier |

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you produce stitchbond fabric to our exact GSM and width?
Yes. We operate 16 production lines and accept make-to-order specifications. Provide your target GSM (±5%), width, stitch count, and color, and we will confirm production feasibility and pricing within 1–2 business days.
Is the recycled polyester content certified?
Our RPET fiber is sourced from post-consumer PET bottles and processed in-house. We can provide GRS (Global Recycled Standard) documentation on request for orders where recycled content verification is required.
Can you supply samples before bulk order?
Absolutely. We provide free A4-size swatches for standard specifications (shipping cost to be covered by the buyer). For custom color or GSM trials, a nominal sample development fee applies, which is credited against your first bulk order.
Do you support OEM branding and private label?
Yes. We offer OEM production with your brand on roll labels, packaging, and shipping marks. MOQ for private label orders is typically 2,000 kg per specification.
What is your quality control process?
Every production batch undergoes in-line GSM verification, width measurement, tensile strength testing (ISO 13934), and visual inspection. Batch test reports are included with shipping documents.
